Our readers are adults who have done basic research, are skeptical of influencer recommendations, and want a straight comparison before spending $30 to $100 on a supplement their dentist did not recommend. We exist because this category has a high noise-to-signal ratio: strong clinical science on specific strains sits alongside a larger ecosystem of opaque proprietary blends, vendor VSL marketing, and affiliate pages designed to look like editorial reviews. We aim to be the exception. We earn affiliate commissions on some product links. That is disclosed above the fold on every page, and it does not change how we rank products.

Why We Do Not Accept Payment for Coverage

Manufacturers and vendors do not pay Oral Watchdog for inclusion, placement, or positive coverage. Products are evaluated against a published set of criteria — strain disclosure transparency, the published clinical record for the strain category, refund-window terms, and retail availability — regardless of whether we earn an affiliate commission on that product or how large that commission is. Our rankings are determined by how well a product meets those criteria, not by the affiliate payout structure. If ranking by editorial merit and ranking by commission rate ever diverge, editorial merit wins. This is a bright line we do not negotiate.

How We Check Our Facts

Strain and clinical claims on this site are sourced from peer-reviewed research indexed on PubMed Central (PMC) and from vendor disclosures on official product pages. We verify pricing and availability against live retail listings (Amazon, official vendor sites) at the time of publication and note the verification date in each product card. Vendor claims that cannot be independently verified against a peer-reviewed source or disclosed product specification are either omitted or explicitly flagged as unverified. When data is incomplete — as with ProvaDent’s undisclosed strain specifics — we name the gap visibly in the product card rather than paper over it. We do not cite press releases, affiliate copy templates, or vendor-produced white papers as independent evidence.
